The City of Corpus Christi's boards, commissions, and committees provide a vital link between citizens and the City Council.
Boards, commissions, and committees help keep our City government dynamic, responsive and accountable. The City could not function without the outstanding advice, expertise and time provided by the civic volunteers who serve on these boards. Serving on a City board provides an excellent opportunity to make a difference in your community. The City of Corpus Christi has more than 50 boards, which strive to reflect the diverse interests and abilities of our citizenry. Service on a City board provides a way to become a participant in the municipal government process.
Board appointments are generally made by the City Council. Nominations are made by individual council members and voted on by the entire council. To be appointed, an individual must receive a majority vote of the council. You are encouraged to contact your City Council representative(s) and advise them of the board(s) in which you are interested.
All individuals considered for appointment by the City Council to a board, commission or committee must have an application on file in the Office of the City Secretary not later than the 14th calendar day before the date appointments are considered by City Council.
Applications for appointment are kept on file for no more than one year. After a year, applicants are asked to either reapply or update their applications to ensure that the information is accurate. Please contact the City Secretary’s Office at (361) 826-3105 for more information.
