The Type A Fund (Corpus Christi Business & Job Development Corporation) is a business and job generator that was voted on and approved by Corpus Christi voters in 2002. The sole purpose of the fund is to help keep our city competitive in attracting and retaining businesses and jobs. The citizens of Corpus Christi are helping our city grow by dedicating 1/8 of a cent of sales tax collected toward economic development and job growth. An estimated $6 million in revenue is collected in the fund each year. Since 2002, The A-Fund has helped assure many major projects become reality as well as aided the expansion of dozens of small businesses.
The City of Corpus Christi adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 4.69 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $16.87.
