The La Volla Creek is drainage basin is located on the City’s westside. The La Volla Creek Drainage Improvement program will consist of 130-acre stormwater detention pond and new box culverts under North Padre Island Drive at the Airport Tributary #1. The project will be done in two sections or packages. Package A includes the stormwater detention pond and is currently 60% designed. Package B includes the addition of new culverts and the design process is complete. Package B is currently waiting on the TDEM permitting process to be complete. Funding for the project comes from the 2021 Stormwater Capital Improvement Fund.
