The SPMP was started in January 2014. It created a new planned maintenance program for streets in good condition. All streets that are considered in good condition are eligible for maintenance work through either a seal coat or overlay under this program. The annual Work Plan includes residential, local, collector and arterial streets and is approved by City Council.
The SMF, which also started in January 2014, is used to pay most of the construction costs of the SPMP.
"It costs less to maintain roads in Good condition than it does to reconstruct roads in Bad condition."
