One of the major responsibilities of the Property Room is the collection, storage, and tracking of evidence in its many forms.
The department strives to maintain property in the same condition as received and to preserve the evidentiary property that is held for presentation in court.
It is the policy of the Corpus Christi Police Department to make every reasonable effort to return the property to its rightful owner, or their representative.
If an item is turned in that can be traced back to the owner by name, phone number, address or serial number, a property clerk will attempt to contact owner via phone or certified letter to make arrangements to return item.
For inquires about property release please provide a CCPD case number, a current ID which could be a Texas Driver’s License or Identification card, social security card, military ID.
A representative of the owner must have the above ID and an original notarized letter from the owner authorizing them to receive the property.
Found and Safekeeping property have various statues of limitations before the property is dispose of (Found property 45 days, Safekeeping 90 days).
Property recovered as evidence, must be authorized for release by the assigned investigator.
Unclaimed property items are made available to the general public through an online auction company. Go to www.propertyroom.com for placing bids and additional information.
