The City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department has initiated a project at West Guth Park to address the low water level in the detention pond caused by the severe drought impacting the region.

While not a City project, the breakwater aims to protect the shoreline from erosion caused by wave action and create habitats for marine life such as oysters and fish in Corpus Christi Bay. In addition to enhancing Corpus Christi Bay as a natural attraction, the project will provide environmental benefits for city's residents and visitors.

Work on the Everhart Road project will require pre-dawn closure on Friday. Everhart Road between Lamont Street and Mt. Vernon Drive will be closed from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. to pour concrete.

The City of Corpus Christi reminds all residents that Stage 3 drought restrictions remain in effect until further notice.
