LIFT STATIONS
The Wastewater Department's Major Maintenance Activity is responsibility for the operation and maintenance of 100 lift stations (see map below), which are strategically located throughout the city. Lift stations are designed to pump wastewater from lower to higher elevations for the purpose of providing a continuous flow through the grid of underground wastewater lines. Each lift station connects to high density polyethylene (HPDE) or PVC force main piping that leads to the next lift station and eventually empties to one of the six wastewater treatment plants.
The department's activity consists of 34 employees.
