A Joint Erosion Response Plan for Nueces County and the City of Corpus Christi 2012
Chapter 10: Beachfront Management and Construction
| EROSION RESPONSE PLAN
STATUS: Adopted by Ordinance 029541, with a delayed effective date of February 26, 2013.
AREA: Generally, the Mustang and North Padre Island shoreline areas located 1,000 feet landward of mean high tide along the Gulf of Mexico within city limits and the City’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction.
SYNOPSIS: The Texas General Land Office (TXGLO) adopted rules specifying the requirements that may be considered when developing an Erosion Response Plan. Additionally, the rules established the dates for submittal of the ERP to the TXGLO in order for the ERP to be considered for each Coastal Erosion Planning and Response Act (CEPRA) Grants.
DUNE PROTECTION AND BEACH ACCESS PLANS AND REGULATIONS
SYNOPSIS: State legislation passed in the early 1990’s requires local governments within the coastal zone to adopt dune protect1on and beach access programs for management of the beach/dune system. Accordingly, the City of Corpus Christ has adopted the Mustang-Padre Area Development Plan and Chapter 10 of the City Code of Ordinances. Beachfront Management and Construction Regulations. The purpose of these companion ordinances is to promote the integrated protection and consistent management of development of land on Mustang and Padre Islands. Key element goals for these regulations are protection of the public’s right of access to and along the public beach and protection of the dune system to minimize property damage during storm events.
