The City maintains approximately 100,000 traffic signs, 400 miles of street striping, 507 school crosswalks, 514 pedestrian crosswalks, and curb painting throughout the City.

Additionally, this operation provides implementation of Traffic Control Plans for special events, such as Beach to Bay, 4th of July events/fireworks, Bayfest, Buccaneer Days' Parade/events, and other similar events. On call personnel are provided 24/7/365 for emergency calls to replace/repair regulatory traffic signs

Street Markings and Striping

• Markings: School and pedestrian crosswalks markings and curb painting are maintained by one crew of three employees
• Striping operation is maintained by a crew of three employees. They are responsible for all city road way striping, This operation utilizes a striping truck and a chase truck to paint yellow and white roadway stripes and uses a fast drying traffic paint.  A chase truck is used as a buffer between the striping truck and the public vehicles to allow time for the paint to dry.
