NUISANCE COMPLAINT REGARDING BARKING DOGS, NOISY ANIMALS OR EXCESSIVE NOISE
Residents, whether living in an urban, suburban or city, are expected to tolerate reasonable amount of noise including, but not limited to, traffic, music, lawn mowers, construction, barking dogs or other animals, without complaint, but when that noise is continuous, excessive, or unreasonable to a level that violate state law or city ordinances, you may:
What happens after a complaint is filed?
First complaint: The Prosecutors' Office will send a courtesy letter outlining the nuisance to the owner(s)/offender. Owner(s)/offender has seven days from the date of the letter to remedy the complaint.
Second complaint: Complainants who wish to file criminal charges must come to the Prosecutors' Office and Municipal Court to swear out a complaint or legal charging instrument to formally begin the criminal prosecution proceeding.
