LATCHKEY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM 2010–2011 |

- The City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s Latchkey After School Program is the answer for working parents concerned about leaving their children in unsupervised environments.
The Latchkey Program is a recreational program licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. It is for children ages 5-13 and features structured activities in a fun recreation environment with a staff:child ratio of 1:22. It operates Monday through Friday at 36 elementary school sites within the Corpus Christi, Calallen and Flour Bluff Independent School Districts. It observes the same holiday schedule as the school districts. Children who attend schools that do not offer the Latchkey program can register at any Latchkey site with the understanding that the parent will make transportation arrangements. Tuition is $89 per month for first child and $74 for each additional child. Tuition assistance is available for qualified participants. All staff members receive training in safety, supervision, age-appropriate activities, CPR and First Aid. A parent or guardian sign out security system is utilized. All qualifying sites will be provided with snacks through a grant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Special Nutrition Program. The program strives to provide a quality recreational experience and enhance each child’s leisure skills through arts, crafts, drama, games, special events and more.

- REGISTRATION:
IMPORTANT NEWS FOR PARENTS: It is very important that all children be registered prior to first day of school, if parents want their children to participate on the first day of school. The next opportunity to register for the Latchkey After School Program will be on the first day of school, August 23, 2010 from 2:30pm–5:30pm ONLY at the Latchkey school site your child will attend.
PRE-REGISTRATION DATES:
CCISD, FBISD and CISD parents may register their children:
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, August 3–5, 2010 from 7:30am–6pm at all Latchkey Summer 2010 camp sites: Calallen Wood River, Flour Bluff High, Casa Linda Elementary, Dawson Elementary, Smith Elementary, and Webb Elementary Schools
ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION for CCISD, FBISD and CISD parents:
Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 2pm–7pm at Corpus Christi Gym (3202 Cabaniss Prkwy.)
» ONLINE REGISTRATION will be available again for the Latchkey After School Program (School Year 2010–2011) starting Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at 9am. Please check back then to register online. This service provides parents 24-hour convenience to register their children online AND to make monthly payments from their own homes. Registration will be on-going throughout the school year, space permitting, so ask to see if there is space available at one of our sites. For more registration information, please call 361-826-3499. - AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
- Registration will be ongoing throughout the school year as space permits at each Latchkey program site. The ONLINE REGISTRATION will be available for registration (space permitting). SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT REGISTRATION & PAYMENT: PAYMENT is due at time of registration, before child’s first day with the program—no exception.
