- The Corpus Christi Weed & Seed Program will assist local residents with their 2009 IRS income tax filing preparations.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program volunteers will help low-income, elderly E-file their income tax return FREE of charge for anyone who has an annual income of $49,000 or less.
This service will be offered at the Weed & Seed’s Tax Center, located at Goodwill Industries in Flour Bluff 10209 SPID. The hours of operation for this center are 6pm–8pm on Thursday and Friday nights; as well as Saturdays from 9am–2pm. The filing season will be from January 23–April 15, 2010.
This is a walk-in operation, there are no appointments made. For other VITA locations please call 211 and ask for the VITA center nearest you.
Last year volunteers assisted over 800 residents with free preparation. The VITA program is run in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is supported strictly by volunteers. All volunteers attended training classes, conducted by the IRS.
The Corpus Christi Weed & Seed program is a comprehensive, multi-agency approach to combating violent crime, drug use, and gang activity in high-crime neighborhoods. Weed & Seed is a Department of Justice program for the City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department. This is the thirteenth year of service provided by the Weed & Seed Program in Corpus Christi.
